Eligibility
The Australian Junior Chess Championship is conducted according to the Australian Chess Federation (ACF) By-Law #3 which is available on the ACF website. All competitors must be under 18 years of age on the 1st of January, 2026.
Competitors must be registered with the Australian FIDE federation to be eligible to win a title. Competitors from other federations are welcome to enter and will be eligible to win cash prizes, but will not be eligible to win a title.
If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident then we can register a FIDE ID for you at the event. If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident then you must obtain a FIDE ID from your national federation before registering.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
A player’s age is deemed to be their age on the 1st of January, 2026.
Please note that the term ‘under’ means a child must be less than that age to qualify entry for an age category, e.g. a child who is aged eight on 1st of January 2026 must enter a U10 or higher category, while a child who turns eight on the 2nd or afterwards would qualify the U8 category.
A player can play in an older age group if they wish.
Please contact us before you register if you have a non-Australian FIDE registration.
